A city for creative children

ProstoRož revived eleven of Ljubljana’s playgrounds on various locations within the city centre. Once monotonous and out-of-date, their innovativeness and newly defined character offered a much better ambience for play. We furnished them with playground equipment and urban furniture. Now more diverse than ever and with additional furniture, needed by parents and children alike, the playgrounds became places of unique adventures.

The project offered various types of interventions contributing to livelier spaces for play. The furniture for each playground was adjusted to the location, emphasizing the character of the respective area. At the same time, children workshops on recycling were organized at the playgrounds, which gave the project a wider social significance. As in the previous years, we concluded the project with a round table discussion alerting the responsible organizations and services that city’s playgrounds need more attention and a change in their planning and maintenance.
