At the end of January, a part of the prostoRož team was at the Urbex partners’ meeting in Palermo (Italy). Urbex is intended for the exchange of good practices in the field of youth work, where different participatory methodologies for urban research are used as the main educational tool. The purpose of the project is to increase the participation of young people who are exposed to social exclusion and live in five selected neighborhoods in five different countries using these methods. The project will propose and test solutions to improve understanding of the urban context for young people using innovative research and gaming tools.
At the meeting in Palermo, we tested different methods of urban research within five days. Each of the participating organizations was responsible for preparing a one-day program. The prostoRož team presented the English version of the board game City Visionary and played it in four versions, each focusing on the other part of the Capo neighborhood in Palermo. The next meeting will be held in April, where young people from each participating organization will test the methods in Palermo that we exchanged in January. In the interim period, each organization will conduct workshops of urban exploration for the youth in its environment.
The partners in the Urbex project are Bond of Union, Palermo (IT), Dramblys, Albacete (ES), prostoRož, Ljubljana (SL), Mapping for Change, London (UK) and Tesserae, Berlin (DE).
